Marten van Riel

Marten Van Riel lives and breathes triathlon. The Belgian has competed at three Olympic Games, coming close to a medal with 4th and 6th place finishes. After the Paris Games, "The Riel Deal" reinvented himself and dared the leap to the longer distances, turning the triathlon scene upside down in the process.

Over the middle distance he was unbeatable for months, securing the T100 World Championship title in 2024 and celebrating his long-distance debut that same year. Here too he continues his style: offensive, aggressive and with big goals. Keep it Riel.

Keep it Riel.

He has been based in Girona for several years now. In this triathlon mecca near Barcelona, he joined a high-level training group led by coach Glenn Poleunis. He loves hard, honest work. Day after day. No excuses, no plan B. And when his head needs it, long bike rides are his remedy – in extreme cases up to 300 kilometers.

Marten Van Riel is one of the most colorful personalities in triathlon. A true character. Likeable, respected and captivating. Someone even his rivals enjoy having around.
